AT&T Available across the street...but not at my house?

Have a hunch you are on a different crossbox/VRAD (if available) than those across the street.

To show an example, here In GPPark, MI on Beaconsfield near Kercheval, there is a crossbox/VRAD in the same South alley on both sides of Beaconsfield.  Those on the west side of the street are on a different run from those on the East side of the street from Kercheval to Jefferson.

Might be the same for you, but you are too far for service, even ATT has admitted that 10-20% of ATT phone users will have no DSL of any kind.

That might make sense but Jefferson is separated by a median and is I believe 4 lanes across at that point.

I live in a small neighborhood. no "main" roads like Jefferson. It is slightly different, but I understand what you are saying about the box, but I don't know why they would put it on one side and not the other.

Not that my neighbors get particularly good speeds since they max out at 12mb (which is utterly useless speeds) 

I only want the TV based on previous experience/value with ATT and don't want to really resort to DISH which is a better "value", but I prefer ATT based on experience and reliability in wind/storms.

Those were given as an example that two different runs are on different sides of the street.  It has to be on the other side of something. 

ATT only provided IPTV (VDSL2 45-3M internet) penetration to approx 40-50% of all users, ADSL2+ (12, 6, 3M internet, past VDSL2 distance) for an additional 25-30% of users, 10-20% no DSL at all.

Have you used the availibility link I provided?  When it bombed out, did you go to the next page and request service?

If your phone bundle runs across the back of your lots (instead of the front), then it can make a lot of sense.  If your phone bundle runs down the street between you, then I understand your skepticism.

If your neighbors are only getting 12 Mbps, then they are probably being served by the ADSL2+ flavor of U-verse, which isn't compatible with U-verse TV service anyway.  Ask them what model Residential Gateway they have for confirmation.  I'll bet it's a Motorola NVG 510 if they're recent installs.

Understand this is a super old post but just came across it. I have a similar situation where my neighbor across the street in a residential subdivision has gigafiber and I have DSL (6 Mbps). We share a box, so the distance thing makes no sense whatsoever. I've asked AT&T and even gone so far as to complain to the FCC and state PSC. All I get from AT&T is that "it isn't available in your area." Incredible. We are switching to a hotspot from Sprint and will just watch our data usage. Amazing how horrible the internet infrastructure is in the country.
