PAYMENT DETAILS
Hello
When proceeding to submit a U-Verse payment to my account. Two options "Checking Account or Debit Card". My choice was to pay via my checking acct. When entering my Name/Routing number/Account Number. then clicking continuing the Red Alert message came up stating "Invalid Routing Number" ! What! I know my Routing Number/account number by memory. . I have had this checking acct for over ten years. My routing number is correct. I attempted to enter it twice. "Invalid Routing Number" again! What is Invalid about it? How can it be "Invalid"?

Check and Deposit slips may have different routing numbers. The routing number on a deposit slip is like an appendix, it normally has no use because you can't make a deposit at just any bank and have it route back to your home bank (like a check needs to). I think some banks may have decided to use them for internal purposes.
The check routing number must be correct, so you should always take it from the check.

Some routing numbers have multiple zeros either at the beginning or at the end., ie: 0005555550 or 555550000
Try entering (or deleting) the zeros.

Routing numbers are exactly 9 digits long, so like skeeter said, make sure you're entering all the digits.
If that doesn't help, then I'd contact your bank to make sure there haven't been any changes to the routing number.

Thank You for your timely response.
. My routing number has nine digits. Which I assume is the required amount
regarding my bank institution If I add zero's it would make my routing
number longer, If I omit zero's it changes the amount required for a
routing number . If I added more zero's, how many do I add? I have used
this routing number on many occasions when required with no rejections

Italianlady69 - These situations seem to be very difficult to resolve. Does your bank offer a payment screen on its web site? Reverse the method & trigger the electronic payment from your bank. You can do many payees using the same screen. Works great for me.

On my Bank Checks and Deposit Tickets; showing two different Routing numbers. I have had a checking acct for 20 yrs. plus and it has never come to my attention or occured to me that my Checks and Deposit Tickets have two different Routing numbers. I guess I should pay better attention. Can you explain?

Italianlady69 - My suggestion is not about multiple routing numbers. You do have only one routing number. My suggestion is that you change the payment method you are using,
Currently, you are using an at&t link to enter your routing number & depending on at&t to apply that number when taking the payment from your bank electronically.
Instead -
Use your banks web link (where you check your account balance) and create a record for at&t by entering your at&t account number. You, then, send at&t payments from your bank web site electronically. at&t goes not have to edit on your routing number. Instead, they use your at&t account number.
This method more closely matches the method of writting a paper check. It allows you to make all your payments (to others) using the same method. It is the reverse or opposite of paying via the at&t link. It eliminates any roadblock caused by the routing number.
