AT&T U-Verse and DIRECTV app DVR features

Will U-Verse ever get on DIRECTV's level and vice versa when it comes to controlling the DVR? I had U-Verse years ago and liked the fact I could manage my DVR when not at home. Then I switched to DIRECTV 3-4 years ago and the ability to manage your DVR when you are not home is not available. (i.e. you can't delete recordings to free up space when not at home) Yes I know you can manage your DVR for DIRECTV when in network but that's pointless, I can just go to the main Genie and do it since I am at home. But with DIRECTV which I care about more, is that you can watch your recorded shows when not at home. Kind of odd you can stream the DVR recordings but can't delete them when out of network on the DIRECTV app. With U-Verse (which I have now again due to apartment complex stupid rules) I have to settle for only being able manage my DVR and not being able to watch my recorded stuff when not at home.

When will these two features be available for both apps? Will both apps ever be able to MANAGE and WATCH DVR recordings when not at home?
