Equipment return question

I cancelled my service due to ridiculous cost, so I get an email stating which equipment I need to send back BUT I don't have anything with that serial # on it? I'm assuming it's the main box with the DVR but I'm obviously not 100% sure. And what do I do with all the other stuff, 3 other boxes including a wireless box. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I wouldn't sweat the Serial Numbers.  Return what you have to one of the above mentioned stores and give them your account number.  They will scan them in and give you a receipt for them; hang on to that receipt for dear life.  If they try to charge you for unreturned equipment, you'll have the receipt; if the S/N on your receipt don't match what they're expecting, tell them that you are not responsible for their shoddy record keeping; you returned what you were given.  As long as the quantity of gear returned is correct, you should be fine.

AT&T U-verse TV service would normally have at least a DVR Receiver.  You could also have one or more wired TV receivers.  You could also have wireless TV Receivers.  Everything I've mentioned so far should have a serial number and would be returnable to your local The UPS Store or FedEx Office.  If you had wireless TV Receivers, then you probably also had a WAP, which would be connected to your Gateway as well.  That has traditionally not been returnable.

If you're also disconnecting Internet service, you'd need to return the Gateway.  Even if you're not disconnecting Internet service, they may ask for it back anyway (in error).

I understand, I checked every piece of equipment and that serial isn't a match to anything I have. They list "Gateway/Wi-Fi Extender VIP2262_V2"

  • The VIP2262_V2 is your DVR.
  • The Wi-Fi Extender could be an AirTies device.  Have you subscribed to AT&T's Wi-Fi Extender service? If so, did you cancel it?
  • The Gateway is whatever model Gateway you have (NVG589, 5268AC, BGW210, etc.).  However, you should not return it unless you also cancelled Internet service.

I have no idea what an AirTies device is? I actually just upgraded my internet so the gateway has been changed but it didn't have that s/n either..not familiar with AT&T's Wi-Fi extender service either, is it hardware? My Wi-Fi was terrible so pretty sure I didn't have any extender service, Thanks for confirmation on the DVR but yet again not a s/n match
