Never received U-Verse TV equipment upon signing up, now AT&T requesting equipment returned after cancellation - what now?

When I signed up for a discounted AT&T bundle deal many years ago, it included landline, WIFI, and U-Verse. I didn't need the U-Verse TV because we use streaming services. So, when the AT&T rep arrived and installed our WIFI, I told him we didn't need the equipment, so we never got it. This was around 10 years ago.

Jump forward to 2024, and I cancelled the bundle and removed U-Verse because it wasn't saving money anymore (and, I still have never used U-Verse). I got an email requesting IPTV Receiver IPH8010 be returned, but we never even got that equipment in the first place. So what do I do now? Has anyone had a similar situation? How do I explain that I never got this equipment to begin with and avoid the fee...for an item I never received?

So your saying you have been paying for Uverse IPTV service for 10 years and have never used it?

Even if ordered UBasic would have been $15 per month plus the local channel change fee of another $10 for $25.. might have received a bundle discount of $10 to $20 off monthly internet but was not cheaper than no tv service except would have had unlimited data cap instead of the limited with overage charges ($10/50G up to $100 per month)  or purchasing unlimited data for extra $30 per month. So you might have paid $25 to receive unlimited instead of $30?!?

A receiver would have been assigned to the service, if fail to return the receiver or return damaged is a one time $150 equipment charge.
