ESPN2 (Channel 1606) Picture Quality is Awful

Been watching the SEC softball tournament on the SEC Network the last couple of days.  The semifinals moved to ESPN2 today.  The picture quality is terrible on ESPN2.  It looks to me like it is in 30 frames per second versus the usual 60 frames per second.   The picture is not as sharp and motion is not as smooth for 30 fps vs 60 fps.

The rest of the ESPN channels and other sports channels (FS1, FS2, ACCN, etc) are all fine.

Please fix this problem.  I read a similar post from someone in the Austin TX area (I'm in the Birmingham, AL area) who reported a similar issue with ESPN2 and the response was to use the built in Uverse troubleshooter.  That was no help - it basically said to check your HDMI cable/connection.  This is not an end user problem - it is a system issue.

It’s an espn issue not a inverse issue complain to them

This is not accurate.  I'm having the same issue and the feed on the ESPN app (on the same TV) is fine the picture quality problem only occurs on Uverse.

Currently the NCAA College World Series is on (1606) and it looks fabulous.

Congrats, thanks for sharing.  It still looks terrible on my television.  ESPN and other channels are fine.  ESPN2 looks like a bad pirated internet feed.

Hello. U-verse TV is an ancient technology for sure, and is fixed in its capabilities such as they are.  There are no controls or adjustments for things like FPS or such.  If your TV can’t accommodate the signal from the settop box in an acceptable manner, I’m afraid there’s not much that can be done.  Furthermore, user problems can’t be accepted from customers by att unless they deem the issue is actionable on their end such as a truck roll.   You can try calling it in but not optimistic on a favorable outcome.

I guess I'm not understanding how this isn't obviously the issue of ATT/Uverse.  The same feed via a different source (ESPN app/ROKU) on the same TV is fine.  Every other feed/channel on Uverse on the TV is fine.  So logically this seems to me that the problem lies with how ATT/Uverse is processing said feed.

I’m having the same issue. It’s a UVerse problem as no other providers are having issues with the broadcasting of ESPN2. It looks great streaming or via Dish. There are multiple complaints of this happening posted all over the internet.

Another interesting wrinkle.  I noticed it happening earlier this morning during the playing of the Euros Turkey vs. Switzerland match on ESPN2 (1606).  The same match is now being replayed on ESPN News, and it looks great.  So it's not even specific feeds via Uverse, it's specifically how they are processing it to show on ESPN2.

And if that's the case, we know it isn't the world feed from the Euros (as that's what ESPN uses.)

My ESPN2 now...yeah, you're right. It looks like it's stuttering, like those old videos on an internet connection that's too slow.

It's the same on both TVs. One wired and one wireless.

It seems to be fine on the ESPN app via Chromecast.

Okay, well a request has been put in to have the problem looked at, but we have no direct access to problem reporting as we’re customers just like you.
