I think it depends on the area - presumably, basic is just the primary channels you might be expected to pick up on an antenna, and possibly one or more of the C-SPAN channels.

Since this thread was started four years ago and mysteriously bumped on 2/9/2021, AT&T U-Verse is no longer offered for sale to new or returning customers. People who are current subscribers are allowed to keep it or change their packages.
AT&T TV and DirecTV are currently offered for sale to new customers.
DirecTV is a satellite TV option and AT&T TV is a streaming option.
