No Sound from UVerse

I have no sound from the UVerse boxes in my front room or one of the bedroom sets. Other rooms work just fine.... I have reset everything several times. Regular TV and streaming services work fine . What am I missing?

Resolved by using the troubleshooting online.  It found that the receiver was muted despite my attempts to unmute using the remote.

Thank you

Can you take that U-Verse receiver to another TV?

We're here to help get your sound back, @achautin141 !

We suggest reading our article on How To Fix Sound with U-verse. It has the steps for running our Troubleshoot And Resolve Tool on your DVR, which can self diagnose any issues it has. Aside from that, you can also start troubleshooting by rebooting your DVR by doing the following:

  1. Hold down the POWER button for 10 seconds.

  2. Press it again to restart the receiver. (This takes approximately 5-8 minutes and will affect any DVR recordings in progress.)

  3. Restart multiple receivers by unplugging each one for 5 seconds.

If this still doesn't resolve your sound, you will need to make sure of the following:

  • Tune to another channel to see if the volume issue is limited to just this channel or all channels.  If it’s just a single channel, return to the channel and see if the sound has returned.  It may be a problem with the station provider and not U-verse.
  • Make sure all connections are secure between your receiver and your TV.

  • Make sure the mute button hasn’t been pressed or the volume turned down on your TV, U-verse remote control, or other connected audio equipment.

  • If you are using a home theatre system, check to see that the power is on and the correct output is selected. Make sure the volume is not muted and is turned up on that system.

  • Restart your Residential Gateway if you still are having trouble. Keep in mind this will interrupt your TV and internet service as well as any recordings in progress. Unplug the power cable for 5 seconds and plug back in. Wait until the Service lights are green. It may take up to 4 minutes.

Let us know if this helps!

When I got a new remote. I lost my TV sound.  After 2 agents couldn't fix it, they sent me a new box and remote which I activated. Same problem.  It was escalated but still not fixed. So, I have talked with 3 different agents, spent 4-5 hours of my own time but still have no sound for that TV for over 3 weeks.  How do I escalate this to the highest level possible?  I no longer have any confidence in AT&T and am ready to start shopping comcast if they can' fix this NOW!

Have you tried the help menu via the U-Verse remote?

I have two TVs, one had sound last evening, but not this morning. Checked both Uverse and Samsung instructions. Multiple times reset. Unplugged. Connections all correct. Settings: Auto Volume: Normal, Speaker Select: TV Speaker. Sound test: there is sound when tested but the problem still exists. Distorted Sound or no sound: all solutions checked. I give up.
