Pixelation issues on TV

Every day there are times when pixelation occurs on our TV’s.  What causes this? I did the online TV fix and no issues were found. This is sooo annoying!  Do I need to try another provider?

Do you continue to experience this after rebooting your gateway? This will correct any settings that may be causing the pixilation in your U-Verse TV.'

 

Are the receivers connected via Wi-Fi or wired via ethernet cable? The reason for this question is so we can troubleshoot the pixilation correctly!

I see a cable coming out of the wall to the TV and the box on both TVs.  The router is in a different area.

Hi there, NCurtiss! Let's get this picture cleared up.

 

Pixelation is caused by a loss of signal to the tuner of the cable box. Since it has been discovered that you have coaxial cables going to your DVR/receivers, lets try this: 

  1. Turn off the TV and cable box, then unscrew the coaxial cable from the back of the receiver. 
  2. If you are able, please trace the coaxial cable back to the point of origin. 
  3. If the coaxial cable terminates at a coaxial splitter, then unscrew the end from the splitter.
  4. Make sure that the pin in the cable is not bent or broken. 
  5. Inspect the splitter to make sure that it not loose. 
  6. If the cable itself and pin looks ok, then re-screw the coaxial  into both the splitter and the back of the receiver. 
  7. Lastly, like Caleb suggested, reboot the AT&T Router. 
  8. Turn back on the DVR/receiver. 
  9. Turn back on the TV and let everything load as normal. 

Did the pixelation return? If so, then next step is run the Troubleshoot and Resolve for U-Verse TV, select U-Verse TV as your option. You can sign-in to your account for a personalized experience. 

 

If the problem continues, then you may need a tech to come visit you. We are more than happy to provide that option to you, or the Troubleshoot and Resolve tool, which was previous mentioned, may actually provide a way to set-up the visit for you.

If you’ve been working with atthelp, great. I can’t tell from here that the cable is coax, as opposed to an Ethernet cable.  But, pixelization is something only seen with coax.  As suggested, check all the fittings to make sure they’re nice and tight.  You can even back them out a little to ensure there’s no corrosion. Short of that you’re looking at a service call.  

My personal experience here is trying to fix was tantamountchasing windmills.  I never could get coax to work reliably and moved to an all Ethernet plus wireless solution.  Not saying you have to go this route but is highly recommended.

We had the new 4G installed, and two TV’s have had problems with NFL games. The transmission pixelates, screen goes black, then it pops basil to normal. This happens several times during a game.
