Problem using uverse cable box
When I turn on my hisense smart tv ot comes on and I use the tv remote to choose the hdmi input that my iverse box is plugged into. The screen comes up from my uverse box that says press ok tonwatch tv. When I do the black banner comes across the bottom of the tv that says hdmi1 and the settings but does not allow the channels to come thru. This just started a few nights ago.

This sounds like the TV and the Receiver are no longer successfully exchanging HDCP messages to confirm to the receiver that your TV has no way of recording the show.
Try Unplugging both the TV and the Receiver for 30 seconds and plugging them back in.
While they're unplugged, pull the HDMI cable out and reseat on each end.
Try a different HDMI input on the TV if it has more than one.
