Slingbox and U-Verse Gateway

I have had a Slingbox for years - the unit I have now is the Slingbox Pro-HD and I'm looking forward to upgrading to the M1 soon.  Although some of the new mobile apps have taken over some of the functionality I used to use my Slingbox for, I still use it to watch my DVR programs remotely.

Last Friday, my U-Verse system died a slow death.  First the internet started to fade in and out, the the TV service started acting up.  The service tech spent 4 hours at our home on Saturday trying to diagnose the problem and kicked the service ticket back for outside line service.

Sunday, another tech corrected the outside line issue, but we still do not have any services.  The tech is back at our house and after 4 hours with limited success getting our system(s) back up, there is a suggestion that the Slingbox is the cause of the system failure.

Now, the Slingbox has been hooked up to my U-Verse system since it was installed in January.  It was previously connected to my xFinity service, and prior to that, hooked up to U-Verse service in Chicago with no issues.

Could a firmware upgrade to the U-Verse gateway last Friday have obsoleted my Slingbox?  This is the only thing I can think of since it has worked fine up until now on multiple systems

Like all of us - I do not really know - But -

How could a slingbox bring down a u-verse system? It is just a user, except for the fact that it sends content back upstream. Since the internet services are based on high capaciity incoming & low capacity outgoing, I have wondered if this could be a problem for a while. But, there have been no negative posts.

And, it should be easy to test. If watching via slingbox wrecks the u-verse signal, it will be fine when it is not in use. If u-verse service is bad 100% of the time there is something permanently wrong. Something that is always there. An infrastructure failure.

If it were me, I would troubleshoot by eliminating everything possible to see how it works.

Start with NID- RG - computer. NO COAX. How well does that work?

Add DVR connected cat5.

They must have replaced the RG. Maybe the second one is bad.

My first guess for failure is outside. Second guess is COAX.

I am wondering about the 9.1.0h12d34 update to the Motorola NVG589 as well.

Not sure when mine was applied, but I cannot get any stable Slingbox500 connections anymore.
