Using the U-verse app while traveling

I’m traveling. How do I watch a show I recorded this morning with the U-verse app?

If you are looking at the app, the “recordings” are what is available from the ON DEMAND offerings.

To explain further, I just looked at the app on my phone.  I have lots of RECORDINGS on my DVR but when I try to access them on the app it says “No Recorded Shows On Your Home DVR” which just means that none of my recordings are available ON DEMAND.

UverseTV has never allowed customers to watch their recordings remotely.  You can MANAGE your recordings on your DVR (set/cancel).  You just can’t WATCH your recordings.  🤷‍♀️

What you can do with the UverseTV App

What you can do with the app

Connect to your U-verse TV service using the U-verse app on your smartphone or tablet. Then, use the U-verse app to:
  • Stream live TV or on-demand shows or movies.
  • Create your favorites list to customize content on the My U-verse homepage.
  • Set up and manage your DVR recordings.
  • Check the guide to schedule new recordings.
  • Turn your device into a U-verse TV remote control.

Uverse TV does not allow viewing of recorded programs remotely on the app…never has.

Why in the heck are recordings offered? Can they be watched elsewhere?

It is sometimes useful to schedule and even delete shows from the app, even though you cannot watch.  Not sure if it still does it, but you used to could click a button to watch--via On-Demand-- something that you had recorded on your DVR that was also available On-Demand.

Yeah….that’s how it works.  😵‍💫

Except he went back to some U-verse source material and got this lovely line:

Please feel free to manage your U-verse TV DVR remotely here

Which (a) is an http link which doesn't work on my copy of Chrome, and (b) does not (at this time) take you to a page that allows you to manage your DVR, because the web pages that did that went away 5-6 years ago.

Sometimes ATThelp needs to just stay out of a thread.  They jump in ones that are handled and ignore ones they should be able to help with.

If they would have JUST copy & pasted my reply but nooooo, they had to go and ADD a link that just muddied the waters.  🤦‍♀️
