U-verse APP can't Cast?

I've given up on the empty promises of being able to watch whats on my dvr when I'm not at home and am still frustrated by the blocking of channels when again I'm not at home...

BUT, Why cant I cast to a TV from the U-verse app when Not at Home?

Almost every other APP has the ability to Cast Built Into the APP.

I live in Cleveland, OH and travel 3 of 4 weeks a month. Currently in Austin in a hotel that has Spectrum and It would be nice to have the ability to cast.

AT&T's agreements with the content providers allow for small screen viewing from the app.  Casting is precluded, as is using a micro-HDMI cable from your phone or tablet.

DVR recording access has never been, and will likely never be, a feature of this platform.  The best you can do is hope for OnDemand content matching your recordings.  AT&T has never advertised that you can do this.  You can, however, schedule and delete recordings from the App, which is a useful feature.

However, I'm unaware of any restrictions of live TV that are home/away-from-home based, though I could see some that are market based.  Can you give some examples of what you've run into there.

There is a U-verse TV app for the FireTV stick.  I keep one in my travel bag.

From a technology aspect, Uverse is finished.   Att will let you use what’s there but no enhancements.  This has been true for several years already.

Your Uverse subscription is very powerful. Credentials can be used to watch a network’s native app.  Many of those apps support casting.

What gr8sho said.

"Casting" or at least in the Google sense, only allows when on the same WiFi.

When away from your residence, you'd have to log in to the channel's app or website via your U-Verse username and password.
