Uverse Wireless Boxes

My 2 Wireless Boxes are doing the same thing on 2 Tv's.   From day one of the installation we are getting a message that says something about the DVR and needs to return to live tv.  So I called into AT&T they asked me about my Series Recordings.   SO I deleted the recordings and do not have any scheduled.  I stopped all future recordings.  And that is not solving the issues.   We have unplugged and restarted this system 1000 times and now we are so angry we want to go back to DIRECT TV.  They have wireless boxes and we never had this issue.  I thought with FIBER OPTIC and UVERSE using 1Gbps speeds would be awesome.  But the wireless boxes are Slowing the picture down skipping and freezes.  Everyday all day long.  We cannot watch one program with out it doing this at least 1-50 times.   Its sad that I have to watch the few channels you give on the Apple TV APP and I stopped using my wireless boxes.   But I am paying for it.  The DVR is in the OFFICE so my living room is the main family tv and we cannot use it.  The other is in my bedroom so I never get to watch tv unless I stay in the office.   AT&T needs to fix this issue with their WIRELESS BOXES.  It's not my WIFI speeds either.  My UPLOAD Speeds are 699-750 sometimes 800 and my download speeds are 500-700   So my speeds are not the problem

Where is your gateway and WAP? How far away are they from the wireless stb’s?

If you haven’t done this already, unplug all att devices. Gateway, dvr, wap, stb’s. Plug in the gateway. Let it restart to all green lights. Plug in your dvr. Let it fully restart. Do the same for each stb. Finally plug in the wap. Press the wps button and connect each wireless stb. If these steps don’t work, call for a tech visit to check everything in the house. If you get a tech visit, have the dvr moved to the main tv. The WAP may need to be moved as well.

The "return to live TV" is a bug that has been going on for years. IIRC, it gives the expected error (or result) and not the actual one.

Unfortunately, tech support doesn't really know more other than "if resetting doesn't fix it, we can either send a tech or mail new equipment, depending on the issue."

Basically, it has something to do with boxes getting out of synch. If you can, move your WAP closer to your wireless receivers and further from the gateway. Another thing you can do is make sure your AT&T equipment is plugged directly into the wall and not any sort of UPS or surge protector.

@skeeterintexas here it is again...and I thought I was the only one.

@baseballisback   I had the "Return to Live TV" just the other day....nothing recording, no other TVs on, I had paused for maybe 30 mins.  I guess I'll never know which house they bought on House Hunters.  😫

Yeah, that's probably the only thing I really despise about U-Verse. It could be fixed so easily...but they won't do it.

Just a simple: "There has been an error and your buffer has been lost" would suffice.

There is no service on the planet that has to jump a viewer to live TV because the DVR has started recording a show.

Think about how U-Verse works. There's four streams of live TV. If one, two or three streams are recording, it still leaves the fourth available, even if it's 15 minutes behind live TV.

And now AT&T wants to put up that error when the viewer isn't recording anything?

The "fix" seems to be to record whenever the viewer is behind live TV.
