Watch DVR From my Computer

When I signed up for Uverse, the ATT rep on the phone and my installer had both told me that I would be able to WATCH ALL OF MY DVR content from my computer or phone.

So now I'm stuck with the overpriced service and I find out that that was a flat out lie. "Licenseing issues" is what I am reading on this forum, and a $300 Slingbox is recommended.

I'm curious to see who else was lied to by ATT and if anyone has figured out a way to make this work?

Sorry that you were misled.

No, you cannot watch your DVR content from your computer and yes, a Slingbox is your only option to watch content remotely.

Salespeople will often tell you anything, to make a sale, @MustangGrl.  Unfortunately very few services allow direct, remote viewing of your DVR.  U-verse does have a 30 day money back gauantee.  I would recommend that you send a private message to the escalation team at AT&T Customer Care, and someone will get in touch with you.  They would be interested in knowing when you spoke with an AT&T phone salesperson, so they can listen to the recordings and retrain the rep so there will be no more lies. 🙂

we suffered the same situation... and I thought it caused by port 100 not open, then modem page "HOME" device name are not same as cell phone, and can't figure out why video closed, whether installation guy entered wrong datas...

so it is we need to buy $300 box to make it works? would monthly fee charge also jump up?

unbelievable. we had at&t modem+negear and can watch DVR camera on PC (that time we didn't have morden smart cell phone). And now we pay $45/mm for what indeed ?

it way over 30Days because my husband didn't have time to test until after retired to have a long trips purpose.

quite disappointed, very regret to be allured.

I believe the DVR in the OP is the U-verse TV DVR. It is NOT any other video equipment that is connected to the internet. That setup can have setup problems, but it is NOT specifically blocked as the TV side is.

Operative words were "DVR content".

So to the OP, no you can't watch DVR content from your computer.

But it would be cool if you could.  Smiley Wink

in our case, we bought Roku device($100+) which allows us :TV program can watch in PC. we also bought mycloud storage device($120+) save files from internet download which thur PC  and Roku can post on TV to watch.

however not sure the difference between $300 box and Roku because we didn't buy any TV programs.
