HBO for Life. Notsomuch!

I've had ATT wireless for over 20 years. Yes they promised HBO for Life. Yes I have a grandfathered plan. But now this week I cannot log into Max. Reps are saying that grandfathered plans are no longer eligible for Max.

How does that happen? Ungrandfather?

Do you have one of these wireless plans?  Did you change your plan?

These AT&T Wireless plans give you access to Max at no extra charge.
  • AT&T Unlimited Elite®
  • AT&T Unlimited PlusSM
  • AT&T Unlimited Plus EnhancedSM
  • AT&T Unlimited ChoiceSM
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice IISM
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice EnhancedSM
  • AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM Premium

FYI: Some plans require you to activate Max in your myAT&T account. In addition, if you change plans, you’ll lose your Max benefit and won’t be able to get back on a plan that includes the Max benefit.

I have Unlimited Plus (not SM, whatever that is.) They do not see it listed in my account at all.

I had the same problem. I just called them and they stated that I no longer have access.

The email I received, said this…

“You made changes to your AT&T wireless or broadband plan from one that included Max (formerly HBO Max) as a benefit and as a result, the Max benefit has changed. Effective 09/14/2023, you will no longer be eligible to receive the Max benefit.”

I haven’t made any changes to my account.

They have increased the price several times and now they have taken one of the main reasons I have kept the service.

Horrible communication and customer service.

I'm going through the same EXACT thing! September 15th it says I removed my hbo max included with att unlimited plan for free and no one has made ANY changes to my account! After speaking to att they say its directv and directv says it's att. I've had hbo max for years for free since I have an unlimited plan as well as directv and internet bundled. I'm about to SCREAM if they don't fix this soon!

Just an FYI, AT&T does not own HBO/Max anymore.

Including it for free was a perk they could offer when they owned it.

I have anticipated that AT&T would terminate HBO/MAX Even for customers who kept an account that included it for free

You might want to check your previous bills to see if it did mention in the news section that HBO would be terminated in September

This is still going on. I’ve had the same exact thing happened to my AT&T account. I had HBO for life and it was recently disconnected from my account and the agent I contacted at AT&T more or less told me that HBO Max was not part of my account. Ridiculous and uninformed!
The agent even had the audacity to tell me there was no such thing as HBO for life.

I am moving over to Verizon and most certainly never recommend AT&T to anyone.
