Incoming TextNow messages marked as spam

We have a friend who uses TextNow app for texting. Up until a few days ago, she was able to send us texts. Now, she can receive texts from us, but we don’t get her’s. Textnow tells her that ATT has blocked her number as spam. It is not. Everything was working fine until she was carrying on a lengthy conversation the other night. Now, she can’t send texts to anyone who uses ATT or Consumer Cellular. How do we get this fixed?

I should add that she can send messages to Verizon and T-Mobile with no problem, so it is an ATT issue

AT&T Call Protect App: The spam alerts might be displayed because some AT&T customers have the AT&T Call Protect app installed on their cell phones.
This app includes features like fraudulent call blocking and spam alerts, which identify telemarketers and suspected spam calls. If your friend’s number is being flagged, it could be due to this app. Encourage her to check if she has the AT&T Call Protect app installed and review its settings.


Spam Protection on Android: Android users can use Google’s Messages app to thwart junk text messages.
In the Messages app, tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner, select “Settings,” then enable “Spam protection.” This feature will alert your friend if an incoming message is suspected of being spam.

Manually Block  Numbers: If your friend identifies specific numbers causing issues, she can manually block them on her phone.
Blocking unwanted numbers can prevent further spam messages.


Patience is key, as it might take a little time for the changes to propagate. Encourage your friend to follow these steps, and hopefully, her Text Now messages will no longer be marked as spam.
