Internation Overage Charges Billed - Want to Dispute

HI,

I went on a vacation to India, when we left the country we had switched off the data on the phone. But we had still got a message that we are using more data. Not sure how this happened as we had our phones with data turned off. We were asked to make an international call to AT&T USA, we tried calling but we could not reach and then we checked once we came back, we were told to wait till the charges post and we saw that there was an additional overage charge of 500$ posted to my account. When i saw the bill, it shows like i had downloaded some 300MB on one day for about 30 minutes. I am not sure how this happened and for that 300 MB and 30 minutes asking to pay 500$ does not seem to be fair on AT&T. I am really frustrated about the customer experience. This is not the first time that AT&T had tried to charge me by giving wrong information as this happened earlier when we had been on a tour to Europe where we were asked to buy 1GB packet for 60$ and we were told when we exceeded that we will be added 1GB for 60$ but i ended up paying 180$.

I wanted to dispute these charges but i am being told that my case is closed without anyone talking with me they have closed the case and they are saying that i need to still pay. This is not a fair practice and a good customer experience. How can i get this resolved. please help.

Data without an international plan is $2.05 per MB so 300 MB of charges should actually be much more. I would say you didn't actually turn data off. Your phone probably has a record of the usage. Anyway, your options now are to file a BBB complaint which will result in someone from upper management contacting you. If they do not resolve to your satisfaction, your next step would be to start the formal dispute process. For details on that, read para 2 of the wireless agreement: https://www.att.com/legal/terms.wirelessCustomerAgreement-list.html

Again i spoke with the customer care service...i spoke with Melissa from the Loyalty Department...i have never seen any more bad experience...i was treated bad and they hung the phone on me...i feel this is robbing and not proper handling of customer complaints and grievances...
