My son's Iphone says bad code, or won't accept the QR code. It will not join the family

I send the invite code to his phone. It says the code is inactive. The QR code will not work as well. Help . I'm already paying for this service. I cannot even get one of my kids phone onto it yet

Where did you purchase your kid's phones from?  New or used?

What code are you talking about?  Are you trying to use a QR code to load an eSIM on the phone?  Or are you trying to load a family app?

I am referring to the invite code that you're prompted to send to the child's phone.  The iphone (my son's) rejects it.  Says it is old, etc...

What we're trying to do is use the AT&T Secure Family app. I have the app on my phone and at that end, it seems fine. I added the profiles of my family members. But to get the app to actually mean something, (and get our money worth), I have to get my children's phones connected into the whole thing. And that is where the frustrating rejection is happening.

  • Add the Secure Family Companion app to the child's devices to pair them with your device.
Send an invitation to the child's device by SMS or email to install the Companion app. Or, if you have the child's device in hand, you can scan a QR code.

Are you following the directions as above, correctly? From your description it does not sound like you have.

We are following those directions. The Companion app is on his phone. But it declares the code I send from my phone as Invalid. And it refuses the QR code as well.
