Home Phone w/ Access From AT&T

Is it possible to switch a home phone on a copper land line by using the modem with Access From AT&T internet service?

Call AT&T to see if digital service is available to you, or check online.

It depends on the AT&T Internet Service (and gateway) that you have (e.g., VoIP does not do well on legacy AT&T ADSL nor IPDSL but does well on VDSL or Fiber). See https://www.att.com/home-phone/plans/ for some details.

Thanks for responding. I'm almost certain my service & gateway will work. I checked the AT&T Status page and it showed two phone lines available but not registered (or something like like that). I had visited the page you cited. That's what got me interested. I live near the bay and the constant exposure to salt water in the atmosphere has deteriorated the copper wire over the many years since it was installed. The last time an AT&T tech came out about the landline he told me that the whole above ground copper wire system was seriously corroded and there were no plans to replace it. I would like to get the PHONE UNLIMITED NORTH AMERICA plan. At $24.99 /mo. for the first year then $34.99/mo (if the taxes & fees aren't exorbitant) it would be a satisfactory deal. My current home phone bill has gotten way to high. I will call AT&T tomorrow. Thanks again.
