ATT picks up MAC address as part of device name and advertises it on the network.
My wyze camera got recognized on the network with all details - WYZE CAM V3 XXXXX (MAC Address). Why and how does it do it. I have seen my vivint device named on the network as something that I dont have control over. vivint also distanced themselves from this naming. ATT does not give a convincing answer.

When a device makes a requests for an IP address, it may provide its name in that request. If a name is showing up on your Gateway, the DHCP server for your network, then that's where it got it from, the client's DHCP request. WYZE or VIVINT support not knowing this is their problem. AT&T not knowing this is their problem. Your problem is having to deal with all these companies that don't know how DHCP works.

Thank you for the simple straight forward answer. What can I do additionally to ensure?
Can the design of wifi networks be updated such that it carries the attribute of the router? (Yeah, dead-end question).
With such fragile security, how can we build our entire infrastructure on the internet?
Home security system (cameras included), thermostats, ...
All those that are working from home are vulnerable unless they have the corporate VPN thru which they connect, affecting small businesses and individuals.
I happen to live in an environment where external stimulus is visible and audible to me. If I lived elsewhere, I would be oblivious to any of this. Which is likely the case with most of the population.
(This is probably beyond the scope of the original post. But, thank you for humoring my follow up.)
