Email account changes

I am moving to AT&T fiber. Will I have to change my email address with Spectrum, it is a triad.rr.com address or can I still use it?

It's up to Spectrum whether you can continue to use your Spectrum e-mail address and what you might have to do to access it from a network other than theirs.  You will be asked to chose an @att.net email address to identify your account, but you need not give that out to anyone or use it other than as a login id and to receive some e-mails from AT&T.

Not if you want email service from ATT. ATT email addresses end in att.net.

JefferMC   If this is true, then why did both the salesperson on the phone and the installer say that it would continue to work.  I knew that made no sense and created a gmail account, though I hate gmail.  So I started trying to get an att.net email address.  Then I couldn't get anyone to give me the instructions on how to do it.  2 months down the road now with multiple chats, even posts on this site and still can't get one.  Instructions given do not work.  Link told to click doesn't have the next link to go forward.  And so far, NO ONE has been able to point me to one page with a link that I can go to get an att.net email address. Now that I have verification through Spectrum that the email address through them is about disappear, I tried again this morning.  First girl quit answering questions.  Next girl promised she could help, then didn't come back for 30 minutes.  So lets see if a non AT&T person can give precise directions on how to do this.  If you think you can, I request you walk yourself through it first to make sure it still works since the last time you did it.  All I want is to be able to put the info into Thunderbird and have it work again.

@CoolmeadowKid ,

When you connected your Internet service, you should have been told by the installer to go to an activation page where you would have selected an account id, which basically becomes your e-mail address.  If this did not happen, I don't know how to help you.  If this did happen, then you'll need to send your memory back to that day and remember what address you set up.

It might help you remember if you go to https://att.com , click on the myAT&T in the top right corner and select Sign In?  Perhaps this will remember what you've used to check on your balance, check your bill, etc.

However, this is not really related to whether or not you can use your former ISP's e-mail or not which was the top of this post you're squatting in.
