Rate increase
Does anyone else have a problem with what AT&T is asking for to avoid their latest price increase.? Last rate increase they said if I signed up for direct billing through my credit card I could avoid the increase, so I reluctantly did that. Now they want access to my bank account for direct payment. ARE THEY CRAZY? They just had a huge data breach and my information was a part of the breach. And they want access to my bank. I don’t think so. I think my automatic payment through my credit card should be sufficient. There is no way I will ever give anyone access to my bank account.
Anyone else have a problem with this?
Just curious.

Technically not a rate increase, as the rates themselves weren't going up. The just were reducing the discount options available. Other companies removed the discount completely. This how they are all dealing with increased costs from card companies.
Doesn't matter what you think is sufficient. It is up the company what discounts they offer. If you prefer to stay with credit card that is up to you. Remember, they don't have to give you a discount at all. Just the reality of the situation.

All the providers are beginning to pass the credit card process fees along to us the customers. That's why they want Debit cards or bank account information.

AT&T needs you to pay for the "free" credit monitoring service they gave to you for the data breach.

What is great is that I was told my price would never increase for this plan… and now it’s increasing! Yay! Don’t know how I let AT&T can keep lying to me to get services and then charge me more than what was said. Happened to me with the install too. Said it was free…

There is no price for life with AT&T. Operating costs go up then businesses follow suit, normal economics.

Call AT&T and submit a complaint on who you spoke with. This is a public forum so all we can do is provide guidance. Nothing here will affect your account.

No the base price is the same since AT&T is going to offer you a $10 discount for Autopay and eBilling when you don't use a Credit Card to pay your bill. Did you read the details. Only way any price is guaranteed is if it is written. A verbal discussion is just that during a sales call.
What year was your install as it was not always free in the past? Did you ask for something that was not included in the Free Professional Install?
