retired employee discount on fiber

I just got off the phone with a great sales tech for employee concessions. The tech was not just a concessions tech but had a lot of answers. I did not understand one aspect and am putting this out here. The cost for all forms of fiber internet 1gig and above including 2 gig and 5 gig is the same.  The difference being I can only get unlimited data on 1 gig and 2 gig service. Data is capped on the 5 gig service. This is for a non management retiree.  I also can port my landline number from copper to the fiber. It then becomes voip. I still pay the same price for service as if I have copper landline. Only difference is that when power goes out, phone goes out. No problem as I have 2 at&t cells. Included in the voip would be caller blocking for pest calls. I still can use my old/antique phones and fax line according to the tech without the ATA adapters . So any help on the difference with the 2g and 5g service.     Also a tech will have to come out and change the SFP on the fiber. Any comments or help. I have been paying a substantial amount for the fiber, more than hose with dsl. Might be a oood move?

Something does not seem right with that information…

List prices of fiber… 300 …  $65, 500 … $75, 1000 … $85, 2000 … $155, 5000 … $255.

pricing before $5 per month discount for having autopay and paperless billing.

If received 50% off 1000 would be $42.50, 2000 at $77.50 and 5000 at $127.50

If being told could have 5000 for $42.50  with 1.5T data cap it is likely due to receiving over $200 discount off list instead of the $127.50 price at 50% off.

Does anyone have a telephone number to set up Retiree (mgmt) internet service. They are putting fiber in our subdivision and if priced ok I would like to change. Can't find any info anywhere.

The phone number I have for Retiree employee concession is 844-969-1576.

I called today and it goes through - but not sure if it is still employee concessions as it doesnt say that in the automated attendant.

I have 1GB fiber internet service through retiree and I pay $29.99

I also have an email address for employee discount program escalations:   g02511@att.com

I used this back in 2022 and it worked then - not sure if it still works in June 2024.

If you notice they posted that they are shutting down this community website on 6/27/24.

You can also try just logging into your att.com account and searching for internet service and see if it automatically gives you employee pricing.    There is no point in going over 1GB Fiber Internet because most computers and routers only have 1GB ethernet ports so going above that unless you have a specific need is useless.     Wireless AC tops out and you won't get near the 1GB, Wireless 6E (like a new iPhone 15) you will get the 1GB speed.    So right now don't be conned into anything above 1GB unless you truly know what your doing and have ethernet ports and wireless devices capable of accessing the 2.5GB and 5GB speeds.

Thanks for all who put in answers to the question I asked a while back. I have transitioned to 5 g fiber service at AT&T and have been thoroughly satisfied. Only one port on the modem puts out near 5g's. The other ports are only 1g. I am more than ok with that. I have not transitioned my landline to the fiber as i do not have a separate battery backup for phone. that line is still run through the CEV I help accept and turn up in the early 2000's. The litespan is working fine and when power goes out I still have service. I am sure that the landline copper will go way someday, but who knows. Now the main reason of switching to upgraded fiber service was a move from 1g to 5g and, the big one the cost. My bill went from 45 dollars a month to 10 dollars a month. I learned of this through my old supervisor. Our crew meets for breakfast once a month and he shared about the change in service and price. I am saving a bundle and have excellent service with no hiccups. Now about the 5 dollar increase in AT&T cellular per device. That has me perplexed. It will be auto 5g if you have a phone that is compatible with that. Any thoughts on that before the lights go out on the forum? I am a very happy retired employee from AT&T. They were the best company to work for and I have no regrets. Good bosses, great bosses and some not so great but still people trying to herd cats at times. It beat all the jobs I had ever had before hands down. Like my first union chief steward said when I started in 72, Don't be late, follow the rules and give em 8 for 8 and you will have a job for life. He was right.
