Upgraded to Fiber — LG Channels still buffering

We recently upgraded to Fiber.  Our LG Channels still dropped and buffered endlessly.  ATT called me to upgrade to a better fiber plan, supposed to be 25 times faster.  Still buffering.  What gives?  It’s not like a have a ton of devices, and I don’t do gaming.

Sounds like an issue with your LG TV. Are you using Wi-Fi?

Just having a faster Internet using Fiber will not automatically improve your Wi-Fi for your LG TV. We need the model number of your LG TV to know what Wi-Fi speeds it supports and also it would be helpful to know what AT&T Gateway was provided during your upgrade.

Dave, thank you for your response.  My tv model is 55UK6300PUE. Gateway is BGW320-505. And yes, I am using Wi Fi.  I’m thinking TV was purchased in 2018 or 2019.

Thanks for the additional details. Your LG TV has both Wi-Fi (802.11ac) and an Ethernet port. The easy answer is to switch to Ethernet if possible to reach your BGW320-505.

Next question is how far away is your BGW320 in relation to your LG TV as that can impact Wi-Fi performance?

Unfortunately, to run an Ethernet cable from the BGW320 would be very difficult because of ceilings and walls. Distance from BGW320 to TV is apps. 20 feet.

Move tv temporarily to the same room and check how it works on ethernet or wifi there.

@BobLong

Distance from BGW320 to TV is apps. 20 feet.

So the BGW320 is in another room with how many walls in between it and the LG?

Where are both items located in relation to other items that may blocked or interfere with the Wi-Fi signal. Examples: BGW320 is not at about 42 inches above the floor, not in a cabinet or near other electronic devices like TVs, Computer Monitors. Is the LG TV mounted on a wall or stand?

You are correct that speed has nothing to do with your buffering issue.  I’d make Att put you back where you were, and shame on them for even making such a suggestion.

I've yet to find evidence WiFi for any BGW gateway is capable of providing a trouble free experience.

As you can see, TV is in living room against a wall. You can see the Gateway through the opening just to the right of the sewing machine

Also TV sits on a cabinet as shown
