AT&T Fiber and Landline / POTS

I presently have a POTS line and I am considering upgrading my uverse internet to Fiber.  Can the POTS line and Fiber run through the same line?  Will I have to disconnect the POTS line?

Hi @jrd0891 there are actually several ways you can do this! There is still pots lines over fiber but it requires a different style ONT

1.  Request a Pots over fiber line and that would require a different ONT.

2. Keep the pots line on copper the way it is now and just get a fiber install completely separate.

3. Switch from POTS to VoIP when you convert to fiber. It is basically the same product when its a fiber fed connection.

I personally would go with option 3 but those are all options you have.

Regarding option 2 above, we are interested in this. We know people with various VoIP service and it just isn't dependable enough to feel safe. We are in an area with extremely poor cell service. Knowing that, we want to keep POTS the exact same but have fiber installed separately for internet. Do they just add a second box? How does it work?
