Fiber Availability- Allen, TX 75002
I am new to the community and have a few questions. (Note: I read over 100 posts but gave up that route)
I used to have fiber in Addison TX. I get marketing mail saying I can get fiber (from ATT not third party). BUT when I enter my address into the availability tool, it shows 50mbps internet and doesn’t give me the option to request to be notified when fiber will be available. Continuous loop to the same site that doesn’t show what all these posts say it’s supposed to.
Second, when I bought this house, I entered neighbors addresses into the tool and it said they had fiber. I spoke to elite care team and she said she would put in a work order. But i never got confirmation and when i called back the next rep had no idea what i was talking about. Help?
Lastly, is the only way to find fiber by scoping out the neighborhood and looking for all the various terminals, orange tags, and equipment? Does anyone have a link to find local terminal maps or addresses? Broadbandnow only gives me so much. I saw one post with a survey map showing neighborhood with lot eligibility Y/N. Where can i get that?!

Your immediate neighbors to left and right on same side of street qualify for internet 1000?
If yes, need to call and ask for an address validation ticket to be opened... can take several weeks for reply to confirm or deny availability.
Can ask walk the area looking for fiber terminals, aerial or buried.
If neighbors have fiber they should be able to point out where the fiber connection is coming from.

If none of the three are within 2 to 3 homes of yours, not likely fiber available. Which did you have at old address?
Note that marketing mail may be designed for your zip code, not your address... does your address qualify for ATT Internet 25, 50, 75 or 100? If yes, this is FIBER TO THE NODE (FTTN) that was deployed from 2006 to end of 2015 reaching over 33 million addresses within then footprint. The current FTTP (Fiber To The Premise) has been provided to over 14 million addresses since 2016 with another 2 million being added this year. Together these FTTX provide service to more than 2/3 of all ATT hardwired residential addresses. The other 1/3 is ADSL2+ from Central Office (CO) or Remote Terminal (RT) offering speeds of 18 or less.
As you state internet 50/10 is an option... BONDED FTTN with a copper loop length after the fiber of 1700 to 2800 feet... over 2800 would be internet 25/5 or 25/2, less than 1700 to 1000 feet is internet 75/20 and less than 1000 feet copper on bonded pair install is internet 100/20. Note that if bonded pair install is not available due to no 2nd fiber/copper port on same K or N... or 2nd binding post at terminal would be internet 50 as best speed even if only 300 feet from the VRAD.

Don't worry about who has fiber you want to focus on the addresses directly on either side of your home. Use this link to check availability of Fiber.
Availability checker... www.att.com/availability/
Next do you have aerial service or underground service?
Once we know which we can directly you to find the nearest Fiber terminal. You need to be within range of a Fiber terminal and it has an available port.

The house on my left says they have active ATT service.
The house directly to my right has been unoccupied for years and wouldn’t have internet setup - owner is fixing it up.
The second house to my right (on the corner of my street and the main road) has active ATT service as well.
Aerial or underground? Again, I didn’t scope out the block looking for equipment. If I knew what to look for I can check it out when the sun is shining tmrw. THANKS!

Again you can check for services at any address by using the Availability checker... www.att.com/availability/
The owner does not need to have active service and the address does not even need to be occupied by an owner or tenant if a rental property.
Easy answer do you have utility power poles or are all you utilities underground.

is a more accurate listing showing ATT offers some form of hardwired services to 88.2% of all addresses within the zip code or less than 15% of addresses can receive direct fiber (FTTP) with internet 1000 option.
Frontier (old GTE/Verizon area bought by Frontier several years ago) offers fiber service to 13% of addresses within zip code, this would be Verizon Fios renamed to Frontier service.

Im just being petulant about Spectrum bc I got spoiled with ATT Fiber. Hey, it could be worse than having thousands of ppl begging to be an internet customer with ATT!!!
Mesh router gets me decent signal overall.
Ill wait for the email saying fiber is available.
