I called at&t and they said 2-3 months waiting time for fiber optic internet in my area do you think they will keep there promise?

I finally decided to upgrade my internet after almost 5 years!. To my surprise they offered me 75mbps internet for the same price as i was paying for the 25mbps internet. I took the offer and have a tech coming in on friday to relocate my router to where my gaming desktop is. Out of curiosity, i asked about the fiber optic internet and they are currently working on it in my area an it's gonna take 2-3 months. Does at&t usually keep there promise or it's gonna take way longer then that?

Pre-Covid I'd say that estimate might be reasonably considered to be on the short side of the window.  But with big supply-chain shortages and a big drop in qualified AT&T installers, that number could be seriously short of reality now.

Fortunately you're not doing too bad in the speed dept now which should help your patience.  😁

Yeah the speed is not too bad but my neighbors have xfinity and have 300mbps! But i heard fiber is still better than cable internet so my hopes are still up. Hopefully they have it before the holidays if not then in the spring of 2023. Don't think there gonna be installing fiber optic lines in winter lol.

Nobody within AT&T can commit to a specific date as to when you might qualify for Fiber service.

And just because they are working on it in your area does not imply that it will be available at your address within any sepcific time period. Projects are often delayed or due to parts shortages can't happen on a previous planned schedule.

There are many steps to installing Fiber Infrastructure may take many months and yes part of the work can indeed be done during the winter months as long as they don't need to bury fiber in frozen ground.

Yeah not a huge deal. But when the lady put me on hold for like 15 minutes to check if fiber was available in my area got me pretty excited. Either way im currently upgrading my internet from 25mbps to 75mbps. Im hoping they won't penalize me if i upgrade to fiber in a few months again lol. My order summary does seem to have a 1 year early termination fee not sure if it includes upgrades lol. either way Im gonna keep checking my at&t account once in a while to see if it's available.

I finally got my internet upgraded and router relocated near my gaming desktop. Im quite happy with the peformance i got the 75mpbs and im actually getting 80mpbs wired directly to my desktop.  I asked the tech about fiber and he said the same exact things you guys said that there are supply shortages. He did tell me they are installing fiber somewhere near me but there are no fiber lines on my street yet. But the 75mbps is good enough for know. Hopefully fiber is available next summer no big deal.

mike734 do you have it now they just came out to my neighborhood today and were putting fiber cables in the lines, i asked one of the guys in one of the 3 trucks if my part of the neighborhood was going to get it which was like 2 blocks down and he said yes the whole neighborhood is getting it onlt part is he said it will take a couple of months so i was wondering how much longer after you were told if they really did take 2-3 months?
