Nightmare Fiber Install

Our installation for AT&T fiber has been nothing but a pain. A tech came out to install the ONT on the 3rd of this month, however he was unable to detect a signal at the NID. He issued a ticket out to engineering and said it would only take a few hours for a team to come out and route a new line. He stated it might be possible for them to complete it the very same day.

Today’s now the 8th and we are still without internet and the tethering with our phones are about to hit their limits. I called AT&T and they stated that there is nothing that they can do and that the ETA for completion is 2 weeks from now on the 22nd. What I would like to know is why it is taking so long to route a 50ft cable through pre-existing conduit with a cable pull already freaking attached for them to utilize?

What’s even more ridiculous is that my neighbor who’s service already works is getting that exact same thing I need done next week. So AT&T is prioritizing my neighbor for a new fiber line to the terminal (even though his service is working) while I’m completely without internet and have to wait 2 additional weeks for the work to be done. This is insane and makes absolutely no sense.

Hi @tlJohn,

We're sorry to see that we don't have a closer repair date for you! We recommend checking in periodically with the Engineering team to see if a closer date has opened up.

If there is any other aspect of your account you need assistance with, let us know.

So we had someone from engineering out Sunday afternoon. The issue is that the terminal has not been spliced completely with the PFP. It turned out that our neighbor knows a high-level executive within AT&T who pulled some strings to have engineering come out and splice only his port. Why they only decided to splice him is beyond our knowledge, but we’re lucky to have an awesome neighbor willing to make noise that none of us are spliced in.
