Reconnecting Service

We live in Huntersville NC.   In late 80's 90's ATT provided DSL service... yes DSL.... they opted to dethrottle us in order to use the ports somewhere else.   Today ATT still has control of this section.   All of us in our mini 15 house subdivision would like our internet service back through ATT fiber.   How do we get a project set up?   Many of us are contractors that work from home or have a home office business.

You don't not for 15 houses. It needs to be financially worth it to AT&T or any Internet provider. Each Fiber service area is planned and engineered and it takes 18-24 months.

We have one neighbor still on DSL provided  by ATT so there is service available

That only means DSL is still active but no longer offered to "new" customers as it is a legacy offering reaching EOL

I simply can't understand why if there is an ATT box at the end of our street (within a 1000 ft) and service at main road that has been ran for newer developments why we can't have it ran to our homes

Please assist or.provide guidance as to how we get a project started for our less than 20  home subdivision

Could you post a picture of the box at the end of your street as that will help us determine if Fiber is even that close. Do you have another Internet option such as AT&T Air or Cable today?

Hello @lajmitchell! Thank you for reaching out to us! We are happy to see your interest with AT&T Fiber Internet. We're here to provide you the information on when Fiber will be available.

We recommend that you check for AT&T Fiber availability by entering your address. If it's shows as available, you can place order online or call our team at 866.465.3099.

Please note there can be multiple reasons why Fiber isn't available yet such as the following:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. As above, this could mean a neighbor may have it but service was not expanded to your home. We do not have information if or when it will be. If you have 1 Gig Fiber and want to upgrade to 5 Gig, please be patient with us we work to expand that footprint.
  3. The area is not built for AT&T Internet/ Fiber – some areas are not internet ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be since installation is factor dependent as mentioned at the top of the page. Distance and equipment can also play a factor in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services the area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!
  5. For some internet services, what is offered during the point of sale is an estimate. Most of the time, what is offered will be installed. To determine if service is available, our techs will perform tests beforehand and let you know of any issues.

For more information please visit our article about AT&T Fiber Internet.

We are still in the process of expanding the network to provide the most coverage to our customers. Otherwise, if you’d like to check If you’d like to check if service is available to you now or to sign up for a notification if it does become available in the future, please visit att.com/NotifyMe .
