Changing Primary Account Owner

I just moved into my house and need to change the account information so that I'm the primary account owner. How do I do that?

Hello @embbernstein15, we are delighted to help.

Are you trying to transfer billing responsibility for an AT&T internet service?

The originally account holder must enact the process.

Learn how to transfer responsibility :

If the account is current with no past-due balance, follow these steps to transfer billing responsibility to someone else.

  1. Go to Transfer Billing Responsibility
  2. Enter and review the account info to confirm it's correct.
  3. Create a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN). To complete the transfer process, the person taking over your service will need this PIN, your AT&T account number, and your ZIP Code.
  4. Follow the prompts to transfer billing responsibility.

Note: The future owner accepting billing responsibility must finish the process within 14 business days after you submit your request.

Let us know if you have any questions on the process of transferring billing responsibility.

Hey Lafayette, AT&T Community Specialist.

Hope you are still with the company, since it has been four years since you gave this answer.

The problem is the current account holder does not have access to a computer (he is locked out) and has cognitive impairments.

Do you have any other suggestions because of these isuues?

Thank you,

Jon
