I guess AT&T doesn't want my money!

I have tried and tried to get DSL service with AT&T at my location for several months now. I keep being told that it isn't available. I know this is incorrect for a minimum of TWO reasons. First, a relative next door has AT&T dsl service and has for years. Second and more importantly, I lived at this same location a couple of years ago and had AT&T (BellSouth at the time) dsl service. Now I'm being told it isn't available and can get no reason why. On top of this, I witnessed Deviney Utility Service burying fiber optic cable FOUR years ago to a dslam less than half a mile from my home. I would really like to have some explanation, estimated time till I can have service again, or something. The customer service people I have spoken with offer no reason or even seem as if they care for me as a customer or potential customer. Since AT&T took over Bellsouth, the service has taken a nosedive when BellSouth's service was mediocre at best... I work in the healthcare industry and need internet for my work but have been scraping by without my own service. I'm going to be reluctantly forced to look at alternative ISPs . Thanks for caring, AT&T.

Hello @msurussell

I'm sorry for the issues you're experiencing with DSL availability. There is a limited number of available connections (ports) for any given area, and once all the posts (DSLAM ports) are filled, there is no way to add a new subscriber unless another one cancels. Unfortunately, if that's the issue, there is not much that you can do besides checking for availability periodically.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Dmitriy

This is NOT a solution.  I have spoken to an AT&T technician while he was at the DSLAM and he said the facilities are available to allow for connectivity!  I'm less than half a mile from that terminal!
