Internet for the Rural!

Yes, we live in a rural area. No, we do not have U-verse. No, we do not have DSL. No, the "countywide" wireless broadband does not reach our area. Yes, we have neighbors on each side of us who are Windstream customers. Yes, they have DSL. No, Windstream will not give us service because we are AT&T customers. Know what makes me sick. The "Thank you for choosing AT&T" salutation when I have to speak to a CSR. We didn't choose AT&T, we just happen to live on a family farm where the AT&T line ends. We do, however, have Exede satellite. The speed is really good for what we use it for - eBay, Facebook, VMware connection to my work. However, what we can't do is save money on tv because we are limited to 10GB per month. What do all of you fortunate NetFlix users think of that? Yeah, you're right. It sucks.

I think AT&T should be ashamed that they do not offer DSL here when Windstream (a company locally known for terrible customer service) does.

I want to run updates outside of the 2 am - 6 am window when the service is unrestriced. I want the ability to watch NetFlix. I want to not worry about when we will be sent back to dial-up speed - which is usally about 3 weeks in to the month.

I simply want AT&T to stand up to the monstrous size of your organization and reach ALL of your customers instead of telling us who have nothing that DSL won't come here because you are concentrating on upgrading current DSL customers to the U-verse.

Is that too much to ask?

Thank you,

Jen

I agree. I am in a rural area and can actually see the internet from the end of my driveway but AT&T won't even consider running it to the rest of the neighborhood down my street.  Oh  AT&T will run a T1 line and charge us $400 - $600 per month (which we did for a couple of years) but they can't run an internet line to the rest of the neighborhood? My friend up the street in Moody Texas was told no a few times but then was finally told yes and AT&T ran a line.

Hello, Mariana. I know that there are no options where I live offered by AT&T except dial-up. We currently use Exede satellite (which is FAR BETTER than Hughes Net) but there is a 10G per month restriction and that's usually gone within 3 weeks with very limited use (as we do not stream movies or music).

With that being said, I'm afraid that a phone call would be a waste of my time and your's.

Thank you,

Jennie
