Overcharged while on ACP program with very low income

I was given a noticed I was going to be kicked off the discount rate for ACP even though I had little to no income and still fit qualifications for ACP discount. After several times of trying to follow proper procedures on the AT&T application I found out there was a system problem with AT&T. I called just to get someone that did not know English well and they were so confused and couldn’t help me. I kept calling just to get the same problem. After 2-3 months of no appropriate help I was given a bill of over $169. I called several times again and all the representatives was confused and thought freeing $20 was going to make things right. No it doesn’t fix their errors. I am looking for a job and it’s hard with 0 internet. I got qualified but they still will not turn on my internet. I can barley pay my rent and waiting on responses for a jobs that I interviewed for.

FYI:  The federally funded ACP program is “winding down” since there are no funds left.  Without the Republican controlled house adding more, it is scheduled to end sometime in April.  Plan accordingly.

Without additional funding from Congress, the FCC anticipates that the current ACP funding is projected to run out in April 2024. This date is an estimate and may change. As a result, the FCC has begun taking steps to wind down the ACP, which means:

  • No new ACP enrollments will be accepted after February 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET.
  • Households that enrolled with an ACP internet company before February 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET will continue to receive their ACP benefit until ACP funds run out as long as the household remains enrolled and eligible for the benefit.
  • When ACP funds run out, households participating in the ACP will no longer receive the ACP discounts.

All households enrolled in the ACP will continue to receive the benefit on their internet service until ACP funding, which is currently projected through April 2024, runs out.

I too have had similar problems the whole time I have had an account with AT&T. I know I was lied to by a representative. I was fully funded throughout April and partially funded for May yet I have a $50 charge and my account was suspended. The people working for AT&T do not know what they are doing. This has stress me tremendously. I will never trust AT&T again. If the ACP starts up again or is replaced with another similar program I absolutely will not choose AT&T. Nor will I recommend AT&T. I have been treated unfairly and I will not go through all the stress it has caused me again. AT&T should care enough about its customers to train it's people well enough to handle a situation and not have it repeat it's self over and over
