Phone calls to increase price or speed

We keep getting calls at our business from the “billing department” saying if we don’t increase our internet tier our price will go up “a lot of money.” For the just under a year we’ve only dealt with a single rep and everything has gone through him. We’re on the guaranteed price plan that was heavily advertised last year. When we contact our rep he tells us it’s not quite a scam, that they just want us off the plan. Who do we believe? Is our bill going to increase in spite of that “locked in” rate we signed up under?

Please describe your Internet plan in more detail?  Is it a DSL service (i.e. with a speed less than 100)?  Is it shared or dedicated fiber?  What rate?  Does your bill show that you are in month xx of yy in contract? Where is your agreement stating you're locked in?  You have this in writing, correct?

We have a 300mbps plan and yeah, it was in the contract. We tried to look at the bill but couldn’t get that to come up so we actually hung up with the person who called and called the number on the bill and they said there’s no record of any changes, so I’m assuming it’s some type of scam? Maybe a different sales company under contract trying to steal us from the rep we signed up under?

Could be.  Unless your rep says you have to make a change, I'd ignore this other caller.  At best, tell them to put it in writing and send the proposal to your billing address.
