ATT Internet Air Static IP Address

I run a tiny home server. Is it possible to get a static IP Address with ATT Internet Air?

Thanks,

Not that I am aware of, but there are things I do not know…

ATT AIR is CGNAT, you receive a private IP address from a pool of addresses, an upstream device receives the public address. Your private address can change on a regular bases depending on availability of the pool addresses.

To receive a static IP you would have to be off CGNAT, which likely means needing a different ISP platform that is hardwired internet instead of wireless.

T-Mobile and Verizon also offer 5G FWA similar to ATT AIR, unsure if either supports static IPs

https://www.t-mobile.com/support/home-internet/connect#:~:text=T%2DMobile%20does%20not%20have,Live%20and%20Sling%20Live%20TV.

  • T-Mobile does not have the ability to change IP from dynamic to static.
  • Streaming services that rely on IP address for specific location data to deliver live TV are not compatible with T-Mobile Home Internet. This includes Hulu Live and Sling Live TV.

For Verizon 5G Home can have a static IP but have to have a business account and the static IP is one time fee of $500 based upon online posts.

from a different link…

Does Verizon 5G have static IP?
If you require a Public Static IP address for your router, contact your Verizon Account Manager. Note: This feature can be added after the 5G Business Internet service is installed.

Thanks for the responses folks. I have had a static ip address since forever on my ATT Internet 50 plan. I guess I will have to figure something out if I want to keep ATT Internet Air.

Or keep both services and use one as primary and the other as redundant backup in case of future issues.

For myself I would keep the hardwired service, is local cable an option?

Or wait to see if fiber becomes an option between now and 2030.

Internet 18 or less (ADSL2+) with upload less than 1 could understand upgrading to an FWA product but internet 50/10 with 1.5T data cap for around $3 per day or less is a keeper for this old man.

As long as the router remains stable and does not spontaneously reboot then I should be able to keep the same ip address for an extended period of time which would serve my purpose while I wait for fiber to become available. Thank you for your reply.

If they’re offering you Air now, I wouldn’t hold my breath for fiber.  You’d be better off staying in DSL.
