Internet Air Replaced AT&T Rural Fixed Wireless: What to do with old router?

I recently had my AT&T Rural Fixed Wireless replaced with AT&T Air. Life is good.

I called both AT&T Air and AT&T Fixed Wireless support to ask what to do with the old AT&T fixed wireless equipment. I was told I will be sent a box and label for the router and power injector, but these have not arrived.

How do I return the old gear so I am not charged for it? Seem like AT&T Rurual Fixed Wireless and AT&T Air do not talk to each other, and neother support number has an answer.

Suggestions?

Last time I did this, I didn’t give them (UPS) any information other than I was returning Att equipment.  They scanned the device and printed me a receipt.  If an item isn’t returnable, they’ll take it for recycling.

For Uverse based services the customer is to return the equipment to a UPS or FedEx shipping center along with account number. Receive a receipt with tracking number you should keep for 12 months. If ATT fails to receive the equipment within 3 weeks of canceling can be charged $150 for the gateway per the TOS.

I would expect Fixed Wireless equipment to be the same… packed and shipped at ATT expense once you delivery the product to the appropriate shipping facility.

OK, so just show up and tell them the account number? And just the router, not the antenna power supply?

Tell them your prior account number.

Sounds like you return the gateway (5268AC) and its power supply.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

ALWAYS get a printed receipt for the equipment including the serial number so that you have PROOF

you made the attempt to return the item to AT&T! Keep that receipt for at least one year!

I showed up at the UPS store on 1/22/2024 with the router, and they scanned the barcoded serial number of the router and were able to find the account based on that. So they are tied into AT&T's system somehow. If you know your account number, you can compare it to what they print out on the "AT&T Equipment Return Receipt."

They didn't ask for the antenna power supply and apparently had no means to track that.
