We apologize about the issues you are having, but we will be glad to help. Check the WAN IP address assigned to your device after setting it in DMZ mode. It should be passing through a public IP and not a private IP. If it is a private IP, make sure that the device is not setup with a static configuration and try rebooting the U-verse Gateway and the device. It should not have  a strict NAT because it will not be going through a NAT. If you are running into the same issue after adding your WRT router, try setting the WRT in uPnP mode.

Thanks for the reply.

After I assign the DMZPlus to my WRT I reboot the WRT and it has the external IP address. I have my Xbox One and a PC plugged into the WRT, PC for router management. The NAT is OPEN at that point. After no more then 10 minutes the 5268AC looses the DMZ setting and the WRT gets a normal IP address and NAT gos to Strict on Xbox One. I tried going through the setup again but after all IP assignments are final I reboot the gateway and the WRT and the WRT still has the external IP. After < 10 minutes the DMZ assignment is lost and WRT has a normal IP address.

Why would the DMZ assignment stop?

The only reason for it to lose the settings is if something else is getting the DMZ assignment. You can only have one DMZ assignment in the U-verse gateway. If you assign it to something else, the DMZ assignment is lost on the previous device and assigned to the new one. If that is not the case, the gateway may be defective. We can help replace it. What is the resolution?  Did you find one?  I am in a similar situation, with both my xboxes having strict NAT.  Why can't att just give us a modem and let us use a router with upnp or give out a router with upnp.  Its been the standard for years now.

An update to this PROBLEM ...

After trying several different routers in DMZPlus mode I am giving up on this configuration and moving to Static IP addresses. I purchased a block of static IP addresses from ATT for an aditional $15 to solve my Xbox Live NAT issue. 

The tech came out at lunch today and set it up but he said he had not done this in 6 months so he had to make a call. He then returned with "overseas" support on speaker phone to walk him through the setup. It sounded to me that the phone person thought I had the NVG589 router from the directions she was giving him. I didn't have 

All he configured was the internal IPs for the 5268AC ATT router. He said all I have to do is assign my internat devices the external static IP and connect to router and it should be good.

Can anyone give me the steps to configure the static IP addresses on the 5268AC router and setup my own router with an externat IP?

I have the ip block range, subnet and router ip for my setup.

Any help with this is greatly apreciated.

Do you have a link to setting up a router behind my 5268AC ATT router with static IP? 

After you setup our gateway, you should be able to just setup your gateway and assign it the appropriate IPs based off your static IP block. You should not have to add any additional configuration after that.

One suggestion would be to try to get your router working without static IPs, then add the static IPs afterwards to make sure you have everything setup correctly.

I'm astonished that this is considered an adequate fix.  I have a very similar problem.  If this is the solution passed to me in my other post or here, I'm leaving ATT and switching to another provider for internet, tv, phone and mobile.  Buy more IPs?  Riiiiiiight.

The AT&T Gateways do not provide UPnP functionality.  Your only choices therefore are to purchase your own router that does have UPnP, purchase a static block, or go to some other vendor whose gateway does have UPnP support built-in (or requires you to provide your own router behind their modem).
