Cannot connect Kindle since switching to U-verse

We recently switched to U-verse. Since then I cannot connect my Kindle. It recognizes the network name but says authentication problem.

Hi there... Have you tried to delete/forget/remove the network, and then reselect it and re-enter the password?

I tell it to forget and then after I touch it again, it asks for password. I put it in and still tells me problem authicating.

Are you sure that you are entering the correct password, with the appropriate casing of letters, etc.?

(I know this sounds like a stupid question, but it is so often the problem with wireless communication that I have to ask.)

Not a stupid question to someone like me who knows nothing about this stuff. What I think I have learned from reading is im connected to wi-fi but not to internet. Can that be right?

When you got your uverse residential gateway (RG), did you go in and create your own wireless network name and password, or are you using the one that is printed on a label on the RG? If you are using the default network that came with the RG, there will be 2 codes listed there - one for accessing the RG interface itself  (http://192.168.1.254), and another one that is specific to the wifi service. Make sure you are trying the correct one. Also, make sure the Kindle is not in Airplane mode, as this will keep it from connecting as well. Good luck.
