can't load websites from computer

no matter which browser I use, I can't load websites because they time out.  I've reset my modem and router, shut off the firewall, but nothing works.  I am able to get all of my emails. but not websites.

Hi @okpeases! Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand that you're facing issue accessing website. We hear you, and are happy to assist you.

We recommend that you try optimizing your internet connection.

Also, please try restarting your Wi-Fi gateway or modem.

Restart your gateway or modem manually:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

If issue persists, please try resetting your Wi-Fi gateway to original settings.

Heads up: Be sure to jot down your custom settings, like your static IP address if you have one, or your Wi-Fi network name (SSID). You can then change them back after the factory reset.

  1. Press and hold the gateway Reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you let go before 10 seconds, the gateway will reboot, but it won’t reset.
  2. Wait until the gateway restarts and all the status lights are lit.
  3. See if the Broadband or Service status lights are solid green. If so, the reset worked.

Options after a gateway reset.

Find or change your Wi-Fi info:

  • Enable JavaScript, and make sure it’s up to date. You’ll find it in your browser’s Settings or Options menu.
  • Disable browser tools or add-ons to see if they’re causing issues with access the website.
  • Enable Adobe Flash Player and make sure it’s updated.
  • Check the settings of your firewall, antivirus programs, and anti-spyware software. They can cause a conflict with web browsers. Disable them one at a time and try to access the website. Don't forget to turn them back on once you know they aren’t causing the problem.
