Connecting PACE 5268ac to WIFI extender

Rencently our Uverse modem was changed to a Pace 5268ac.  After the change my Netgear ex6100 would no longer work after I set it up properly.  I assumed it had been reset too many times and bought a Linksys RE6500.  I brought it home and it won't even set up.  If I put in the wrong password it tells me I put in the wrong password, (so I know that's not it).

I tested both extenders with my mobile hotspot and they work fine.

Is it my new Pace 5268ac?  or is it some setting I need to change?

Thanks

I have experienced the same thing after switching my ISP over to ATT's U-Verse. ATT should be sued for blocking ports and other options that prevent the use of non-ATT home networking equipment. Doing this, they receive a higher influx of costomers to their "ConnectTech" department where you pay yearly or per service for what should be regular customer service. In other words, they are creating problems and routing the work back to themselves for higher revenues.

Here is the work around.

Enable DHCP on your Wifi Extender. With a NetGear, there is typically a link you can go to to enable/disable the option. This link can typically be found in your NetGear models online FAQ. After enabling DHCP on your extender, you will be able to connect the device to your network and extend the signal BUT YOU ARE NOT DONE YET!

If you were to stop here, the set up would only last you 24 hours. This is because withing the ATT Pace 5268AC gateway, they have restricted the DHCP lease time to 24 hours. You must now go into the settings page of your Pace gateway interface at 192.168.1.254 in the web browser. Within settings, find DHCP, and adjust the lease time from 24 hours to 999 hours. This way, the reconnecting of your Netgear Extender only needs to happen every 41 days, instead of daily.

I am searching for more permanent solutions, i.e. DHCP reservation, or infinite lease times on the Pace. I have also heard you can put the Pace in DMZ+ mode in the firewall settings page. This will bring down your firewall, so is only safe to do if you then run the signal to a secondary router and utilize its firewall instead.

ATT is the best price for the speed, but their customer service, smoke and mirrors, shady dealings are something the FCC should address. Once my 12 months are up, I'll likely opt out.

Has anyone found a workaround to the DCHP reservation time?  To avoid this, I've setup my Net Link extender as a pinhole in DMZ. How much does this compromise wifi security?

Thanks.

I have the same question as well.  I have worked for HOURS and HOURS trying to get my Netgear EX3700 extender to work with the Pace 5268 FXN gateway through UVerse to no avail. Read through countless hours of user forums, support websites, and troubleshooting guides and got it to work once for 3 hours only to stop working again. This extender worked FINE with my X1 Gateway that was provided with my Xfinity service I had in Utah. My experience with AT&T Uverse is not off to a good start.
