How do I update my routers security settings

Wondering if my router is just too old? I have an At&T Netgear ADSL2+Router but keep getting warnings that it is configured for WEP and not secure.

I checked and supposedly my firmware has no updates but don't know how to reconfigure to WPA2/WPA3. Is there a way to update my security settings?

It is quite possible that your gateway is too old to have WEP2.  I'd have to know the exact model number to look any further.  You apparently have legacy ADSL service, and I'd be surprised if AT&T doesn't contact you in the near future to strongly suggest you move to AT&T Internet Air (assuming they haven't already), so I don't know that I'd want to try to spend much on a Gateway (or a modem plus a separate router) at this point that supports WEP2 for your current service; assuming that you can find one.

I wonder if Att would replace the gateway regardless.  The one possible hitch is if the gateway is customer owned, but even so I would think Att should provide a supported gateway.

I'm pretty sure that's a device for legacy DSL.  That's pretty much always been customer owned, though AT&T initially did provide devices that became the customer's at installation.  I just don't think AT&T is going to have any devices newer than what OP has.
