Replace Gateway Pace 5286AC

I recently received notice that I will no longer receive remote updates to my Gateway firmware on the Pace 5286AC model.  I have been reviewing the comments on this community about this subject. Thank you.  I am not a tech guy so please bear with me!

I have a wire connected to a green port labeled DSL Broadband, so I must have DSL.

In one post it is stated that BGW210 and BGW 320 are still receiving updates.  But they don’t have a coax port.  Correct?  I use a coax cable to feed my TiVo.  The WIFI connection to my TiVo is unreliable.  I have a regular TV.   What is a recommended replacement.  5268?

If 5268 is the right upgrade, will AT&T supply it at no charge?  Will they come out to replace the unit at no charge?  It seems the answer to both questions should be yes since it is their equipment that is old and I am paying a monthly fee for service.  Wishful thinking?

What else to I need to be concerned about?

Who should I contact for the best results?

Thanks for any help on this matter.

Correct.

This doesn't make sense.  Please explain how this is connected?  Are you feeding your TiVo from a AT&T U-verse receiver?  How are you controlling the receiver?

Also note that if you're using the Green DSL port, then the BGW320 is not for you, because it doesn't have a DSL port.  You'd have to get the BGW210.

Regardless, find a solution that doesn’t rely on coax.  Att and coax don’t mix well anyway.
Just to set expectations, the BGW210 is an over 7 year old design, only supports WiFi 5 standard, and it stinks anyway.  Have them send you an BGW210 just the same so you’re properly supported, and then get yourself a proper modern quality WiFi system.

In my case, my coax works well. It is everything else that underperforms (Wi-Fi, 5268AC, DSL).

5268AC will continue to work even without getting upgrades for firmware. In terms of an upgrade there's only BGW210 as an option and it has proven to be fairly reliable. When it comes to coax connection you mentioned they'll have tech come upgrade it to ethernet for DVR(stores recordings can't be connected wirelessly) and give you wireless receiver for the second TV. Some cases when your gateway is in different room techs have just added DVR connected to gateway only and use wireless receivers for the actual TVs.

I guess y'all are assuming that OP used "TiVo" in the sense of a generic name for his U-verse DVR?  I could see that.

First of all, I need to correct the model number of the gateway device.  It is the Pace 5268AC model. I am sorry I flipped the numbers!

How can I correct the topic name?

Here is my setup to view TiVo Edge programs.

A black box labeled 5268AC has 4 ports in the Ethernet area.  I run a cable from Port 1 to the nearest electric outlet.  I use some kind of a device to plug the cable into the outlet.  In another room I use a similar device to run a cable from the electric outlet to the back of the TiVo Edge box.  Then I run a connection from TiVo to my Denom AVR.  My Roku device using WiFi is also connected to the AVR.  Then there is a connection from the Denom unit to my Sharp TV. To view programs on TiVo or Roku I need to select the port on the TV that is connected to the AVR.  The associated remotes control the operation of TiVo and Roku.

So what replacement unit is coax compatible?

While it’s admirable to defend coax, better to find a setup without it.

I'm missing where the COAX cable is coming from the 5268AC.  You said Port 1, meaning the Ethernet port, right?  This is going to a Powerline Ethernet bridge.

And if that’s the case, moving to a BGW gateway is a no-brainer.
