Unstable Ping randomly on Ethernet

I have a BGW210-700 and I randomly have unstable ping ranging anywhere from 20-160. Rarely, when the internet is good, I will get 20 ping to 8.8.8.8 .

I have confirmed it is not my ethernet cable, and I also recently had a technician come over because prior to this, my broadband light was constantly either Solid Red or Flashing Green. Now, my Broadband and Power are always Solid Green, but my ping is still extremely unstable.

Does this happen at a certain time of day?

Do you have Fiber or DSL?

Do you move a lot of data (especially upload) at times, enough to saturate the line?

It doesn't happen at any certain time, it's been happening randomly from times like 1:00AM to 10:00AM to 5:00PM.
I'm on DSL.
We have 2 routers connected to our modem and 2 computers. Usually the computers are using streaming services or gaming and the routers are for our phone wifi

Since you're on DSL, you can check the statistics for line noise/errors at http://192.168.1.254/  on the Broadband page.  Upload a screenshot if you want us to look.  A lot of CRC errors is bad.  100 FEC per minute of the time covered by the stats is OK.

Also since you're on DSL, your upload is pretty small.  Any time you saturate your upload channel, you'll kill your latency (and bandwidth overall).  This can be online backups, uploads of pictures, videos, etc.

Plus there is the usual contention for the aggregate network that could also affect you, but this is normally only at peak usage for eveyone.

These are the stats that show up

You probably pay for 50/10 (Mbps down/up) and are provisioned at 60/12.   Your line statistics look great.

This didn't start happening until recently though, around 30-50 days ago, and we haven't changed our plan, is there any way to fix it without upgrading or is that the only way?

Upgrading your plan may not help.  It depends on exactly what's causing the latency.  If it's something filling the upload stream, then upgrading your plan may shorten the period of time it occurs, but not prevent it.  If you can figure out what is causing it and limit its utilization to 80% or less, then that would be better.

When you say change your plan, to what?  You are already on bonded pair and it’s unlikely your DSL can go faster.  If fiber was available, you’d already be in the process of being force marched.

This may not be directly related, but you have two routers.  Only one could possibly be in IP Passthrough, but both could be in access point mode.  If neither, then you’re in a double NAT condition which works, but not ideal.

Looking at his sync rate, he could go 75/xx on VDSL2, but not 100/xx.  I don't think it'll make enough difference and may cause other issues.
