Wireless no longer working on 3600HGV, how to get a replacement?

Have had this device for about six months with no issues.

Went out of town today and when I came back my wife said there's been no wireless internet all day.  Tried unplugging the device and pressing the reset button.  I can connect via wire, and I can connect via wireless if the laptop is sitting literally right next to the 3600HGV, but walk away and the connection drops outside about 10 feet, even when still line of site to the device.  When connected right next to the device, my laptop says the signal is poor.  My wife's laptop one floor down can't even detect the device as being available.  Previous to today, we had a strong connection throughout the house, and even in the detatched garage.

Any advice?

It's probably dying. This seems to be a common occurance considering the age of the 3600HGV now.

You need a replacement. In most cases, it'll be $100 if it's outside the 1 year warranty.

You need to call AT&T at 800-288-2020, contact them by live chat, or Message AT&T. Make sure you state you need a new gateway to replace your 3600HGV and if contacting by through private message, ensure that you include all of your account information in the message for a quick response.

Two choices:

1) Ask AT&T for a replacement, and return this 3600 for a $100 credit, as there's a 1 year warranty on this device.  BTW, this is a common problem with the 3600.

2) Obtain your own Wireless Router or Access Point and configure it as described in post 13 in this thread.  In this way you can decide what wireless features you want (dual band, 802.11ac, etc), and get a much better wireless experience.

I contacated at&t via message.  Haven't heard back.

Went to HH Gregg and got a basic WAP for $30.  That got wireless working again.

May pursue the replacement 3600 if there's no charge.  O/W, this solution works.

I called tech support and one of them said that they no longer sell the 3600HGV, they lease it for $8 a month and the one I have needs to be returned. The other tech support said they do sell them and can either send a technician to my house or send me a new 3600HGV. Which one is lying?

Thanks for the info. The tech came with a 5031 and took away the non working 3600. I asked how much, he said Its free. Let's see if they charge for it in my next bill.
