All we ask for is reliable Internet!

Hello,

Unfortunately, this is my SECOND post I've made due to my girlfriend's and mine Internet. Last one was about 2 or 3 months ago. Regarding the same issue of not having reliable/stable Internet. We're on the Uverse 18/Mbs plan. We got it originally to replace Comcast as they screwed up our billing, leaving us to collections, to pay a whopping $1,700. Needless to say, our experience with ATT's "High-Speed" Internet, makes paying Comcast collections look very inticing. Our service is so unbelievably horrible, it's making us want to pay close to 2 grand to someone else. Why?

  1. Although our nearest HUB is 3,900 feet away from the house, and "signals SEEM to be ok", our service is extremely slow. On our 18Mb/s plan, I'm peaking at 14Mb/s Down, and, I'm dead serious, unfortunately, 0.96Mb/s Up. Even when hardwired using literally a 12" cable. Not a huge distance, obviously.

     2. With a signal that seems, and I quote, "Fine", it most certainly isn't. Infact, we're on our              2nd gateway due to the first one suddenly stopped working. And the speeds stated                    above are ridiculously low, although one Tech Rep. said that "ATT doesn't focus on the              upload speeds as most customers don't think about it".

     3. The connection always drops on top of everything else. I'm a photographer. I obviously need AT LEAST a DECENT connection. I'm not asking for anything super fast either. I'd be ok     with an upload speed of 3Mb/s. At least that would allow me to upload my work faster as one            photo, currently, takes about 30 seconds, maybe 2 minutes at slowest speed. As I said,            ridiculous.

But, when your speed is slower than what you're paying to where it's almost unusable, with the service light always wanting to shut off for 1-2 minutes, paying $1,700 to have a much faster, and reliable, Internet (Including television), seems like it's worth it. But ATT won't bother to come out without trying to charge us due to their ancient lines that they run through Bedford, Indiana. Go ahead, Google the city. It's not a small town. Not the biggest either, but I know ATT could afford to replace their own lines to make their services legit.

@KrSr-2016   On all Uverse RGs, IPv6 causes disconnects, rebooting and browsing problems (Internet).

Disable IPv6 in all Uverse RGs info here:

https://forums.att.com/t5/Equipment/Slow-connection-using-Google-Facebook-and-certain-sites-after/m-p/3860323#M382

If a 2wire/Pace/Arris RG (3800/3801/5031/5268) click the Go here link at top of the orange globe.

Good luck 😉

Thank you! Hopefully this will at least fix the disconnections. It seems to be working for everyone else. Still a bit disappointed in the speeds and my neighbors get noticably faster speeds on the same plan.

You're welcome, but unluckily distance is your enemy.  Might want to save a little $$ and get almost as fast on 12M (13M overpovisioning) Internet getting full signal if getting 14M now. Smiley Surprised
