AT&T Uverse HSIA45 mbps upgrade to HSIA 75mbps questions.

I am unsure of the upgrade. Does a tech have to come to my place and verify things? I was never notified of anything that needs to be done. the way the change order went, it seems that the internet speed will just be bumped up to 75mbps.

Is this possible? I would predict it has to do with how my fiber installed and hooked up to the node, correct?

Also, does anyone know accurate upload speeds for this internet plan? I can't find a direct answer anywhere on the AT&T website, they only worry about download...

but, regarding upload, I am planning on upgrading to Gigapower soon, does Gigapower provide a true symmetcial connection of 1gbps down and 1gpbs up? I would wager the upload is throttled.

any input will be appreciated guys.

thanks,

thanks for the reply.

I am using a full (FTTP) with an ONT. I did a speed test hardwired and I got pretty close to what you said, 75.91mbps down and 7.13mbps up.

Nothing on my end changed and no tech has contacted me. I have the NVG589 modem. I guess everything was fast enough to make the upgrade easy.

The next question I have is about the Gigapower. If everything is laid out with FTTP I should be able to get full gigabit speeds, correct? Of course I expect a new modem and maybe a tech to visit to check the lines, but, other then that it should be good to go, or no?

@Wallaby32   Many reports here on Gigapower are in the 800-900 M range up/down in daily use.  Whether it gets to 700 or 900 you'd never even notice in normal use generally.

Seems like upgrading to 75M was a wasted move if you're getting Gigapower soon. 😉

well, I hope it is soon. Back in January I was told "soon", now, April and they are telling me around May 23rd. LOL. who knows when it will actually be, so, I went ahead and upgraded to the 75mbps only because it was like a $10 increase or something like that, so why not.

I've just gotten power plus 75 by sheer luck.  I had HSIA45 and one of bonded pair died. Took combination of lineman and premise tech to fix.  The second premise tech who I'll call "Joe"(not his real name, I don't want the guy getting grief)  was the genius.  After fixing the HSIA45 so it was back to full speed, turned out one of the lines in my drop between pedistal and house had died.  Joe checked my distance to the vrad and said since it had N cards and I was within the 1250 foot length, I could get power 75.  His supervisor was here and said go for it. It requires an N card in the vrad and the ports have to tuned up to 17 hertz for it to run. I first had it working a NVG589 modem, but they upgraded me to the 5268AC so I'm on the latest hardware. So far i'm tickled pink.  It's a great early birthday present for me.  It was because of another great tech a couple of years back that I was customer number 7 in the CO to get power 45.  I haven't started trying mac filtering I used to do that with a pass thru router for all wireless to keep out unwanted hitchhikers.  I see mac filtering and a few other items being new bugs to be worked out.  But I am super excited.  It's only been when i get the best techs and their bosses that I luck into upgrades like this.  I am blessed to keep getting from time to time the best of the AT&T techs these guys really make it work. The standard sales websites and call center know nothing.  The techs RULE!
