Controlling WiFi remotely with smart phone

Hello,

I downloaded the Smart Home Manager app because I want to be able to disable and enable my WiFi using my android phone.

Using the app, I was only able to access "advanced options" to disable the WiFi when it is currently on, but once the WiFi was turned off, I could not access "advanced options" to turn it back on. I have to physically go to the computer that is directly connected to the modem via cable to enable the WiFi again.

Question:

If the WiFi radio signals of the modem are off, can I turn them back on using the Smart Home Manager app from my phone, or is this impossible once the WiFi is turned off?

I'd like to think that being able to control the WiFi both ways would be a good reason to have the app.

Thank you,

Manuel

Checked myself and don't see a way to do it.

Anything considered to be of an advanced settings nature requires one to already be on the local network, and even then transfers the user to the management console in a web browser.

As for the use case of the scenario, I don't personally see a need for it, and you can lobby for it but there's no direct way to submit requests like this.  Suggest using the app store and submitting request there.

We understand you're attempting to control Wi-Fi remotely with your smartphone, @ManuelG. We're here to assist you.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to turn on Wi-Fi with your smartphone through the smart home manager. Only when the Wi-Fi gateway is connected to the power supply you can remotely control your Wi-Fi.

We recommend that you go through our article on Explore Smart Home Manager to learn more about how to personalize and manage your device's network information.

Let us know how it goes!
