Disabling Wireless Utiling a Different Wireless Device
I would like to use a different Wi-Fi brand or device that is capable of handling more Wi-Fi devices. ? Currently, the BG320-500 only allows adding up to 32 MAC devices for MAC Filtering. I require quite a bit more MAC Filtering for my additional devices for security reasons. Is it possible to disable the Wi-Fi on the BGW320-500 and use my own wireless access device by configuring the IP Pass-through settings in the Firewall – IP Passthrough settings or is there an alternate means available to accomplish this?

Good Morning
Thanks for the information. So if I understand this correctly, I need to provide my router MAC address in the AT&T router for this to work? Will this allow my router to be seen by VPN or accessed from an outside LAN? Thanks

Hey @art20, we understand you would like to use a different wireless access device, we’re glad to help and walk you through the right path.
You can secure your home network using MAC addresses, unique identifiers found on every Wi-Fi enabled device. When you enable MAC address filtering, only devices that you've enabled can connect to your network.
MAC filtering
Please note: You will need to gather the MAC address for all devices you want to access your Wi-Fi home network. Every device will have a different process to obtain its MAC address. Refer to your service documentation or manufacturer’s website for detailed instructions.
Let us know if this helps.
Thank you for reaching out on AT&T Community & Forums.

Yes, it's possible to disable the Wi-Fi on the BGW320-500 and use your own wireless access device by configuring the IP Pass-through settings in the Firewall – IP Passthrough settings. This allows you to bypass the built-in Wi-Fi functionality of the BGW320-500 and use your preferred Wi-Fi brand or device.
To do this, you'll need to access the Firewall settings on your BGW320-500 router and navigate to the IP Passthrough section. From there, you can configure the settings to enable IP Passthrough mode and specify the MAC address or IP address of your own wireless access device.
By doing so, you can effectively utilize your preferred Wi-Fi brand or device, allowing for more MAC Filtering and accommodating additional devices for security reasons.
