Hosting Servers Thru. AT&T Internet
Hi, is it against AT&T's TOS and internet policy if I host a server? I am looking into running a Minecraft server that anybody online can connect to using an IP address. And does this also apply to hosting web servers and setting up a NAS? Or can I only host it locally (like only people connected to the same network as I am can access it)? I am currently using the Fiber 1000 Home Internet plan (w/ HBO Max), if what type of plan I have matters.

We are here to help with your inquiry on running your own server. There is no service term in which you are unable to run your own server. However, "you may not use the Service in a manner that is inconsistent with these intended uses."
Here is direct link to our Terms of Service for AT&T Internet.
You will need to purchase a static IP block in order to run the server properly.

I use to run a diablo 2 server and was shut down due to the traffic on the servers. This was a while ago so I don’t remember the terms

I think it has nothing to do with your internet connection plan. It all depends on whether you want each user to receive a separate confirmation when logging in to the server

There are plenty of cheap game hosting providers, why don't you go with any of them, instead of hosting a server on your ATT connection?

Looking for the answers to this too. I ran a server as well with my comcast account, cable modem, night hawk router.... I was told by the sales person this would replace my cable modem and I could still use my Nighthawk as the router.

I have suggested above that running a game server at home is not a good idea. There is a lot of network abuse related to the game servers and one does not want to bring them on their home router and home account. If you want to have a good latency on the AT&T network, then choose a game hosting provider that uses AT&T as an upstream.

@geekzonehosting you can put the Gateway in IP Passthrough mode to your router, and use your router just like you did behind the cable modem. If you're running a small game server for a small group of friends, you should be fine. If hosting a public gaming server, I would agree with bizaddress.
